At Aptobility we are dedicated to unlocking the full potential of neurodiverse individuals, those with hearing or visual impairments and people coping with physical injury or hidden conditions in the workplace. We support those people through an in-depth assessment which will identify the appropriate training and assistive technologies to support them in the workplace. Understanding the unique needs of each employee is the first step towards empowerment, which is why our assessment process is designed to be thorough, compassionate, and efficient.

Our Comprehensive Assessment Process

Contact with Aptobility may come for an individual seeking support, or an employer, by calling us or completing our contact form. Upon identifying the need for an assessment, a referral is submitted to our team. A member of our approachable administrative staff will then reach out to the employee or individual, to gain a comprehensive understanding of their condition and their specific needs. This initial conversation, lasting no more than thirty minutes, enables us to match the employee with an assessor who has the precise expertise and specialisation required to provide optimal support.

Step 1: Initial Contact and Referral

Our assessors are equipped to conduct the assessment either remotely or in person, based on what is most convenient for the person being assessed. Understanding that the current waitlist for doctors and mental health professionals can be extensive, Aptobility is committed to supporting individuals regardless of their diagnosis status.

During the assessment, the assessor will engage in a detailed discussion about the employee’s experiences, symptoms, and the severity of their condition, striving for a deep understanding beyond simple yes or no answers. This dialogue also explores any existing access to assistive software or hardware and aims to gather as much relevant information as possible. Taking into account the employee’s specific condition, challenges, and the requirements of their role, our assessors will discuss potential solutions. This crucial step typically takes around one hour.

Step 2: Conducting the Assessment

Following a thorough and empathetic assessment, a detailed report is compiled by our assessor, outlining tailored recommendations for adjustments or assistive technologies that could significantly enhance the employee's productivity and workplace experience. It will be shared with the individual who made the initial contact with Aptobility. Or, in the case of a business contacting us, it will be discussed with the employee, and if consent is given, this report is shared with their employer. This is to ensure transparency and collaborative decision-making. The recommendations may include specific training, strategies, or a combination thereof, tailored to meet the unique needs of the employee and the requirements of their role.

Step 3: Sharing the Assessment Report

Upon agreement to proceed with the recommendations, our dedicated team will contact the employee or the employer via phone or email to arrange the implementation of the proposed solutions. This stage involves careful planning to book the necessary training sessions or strategies.

Step 4: Planning for Implementation

In cases where physical assistive technology products are recommended, these are typically purchased by the employer. Our team stands ready to provide comprehensive training once the equipment has been installed by the employer's in-house IT team. Should the employer require assistance with the installation, Aptobility is fully equipped to offer the necessary support.

 

We engage in detailed discussions with our clients to determine the most suitable duration and schedule for the training sessions, ensuring they align with the employee's needs and workplace dynamics.
